Warranty Policy
Last Updated: September 2026
This Warranty Policy explains the warranty arrangements applicable to products and solar systems purchased from Deytech.
Deytech aims to supply reliable products from established manufacturers and to provide customers with clear information regarding applicable product warranties.
This policy should be read together with our Terms & Conditions, Refunds & Returns Policy, and Shipping & Delivery Policy.

2. Product Warranties
Products sold by Deytech may be covered by a manufacturer’s warranty.
The applicable warranty period depends on the specific product, manufacturer, model, installation requirements and warranty terms supplied by the manufacturer.
Where a product listing states a specific warranty period, such as 10 years, that statement refers to the applicable manufacturer’s or product warranty and remains subject to the manufacturer’s warranty terms, conditions, exclusions and requirements.
Customers should refer to the relevant product documentation for the specific warranty applicable to their product.
A warranty period does not necessarily mean that every component of a solar system carries the same warranty period.
3. Solar System Packages
Where a solar system is sold as a package, the individual components may have different warranty periods.
For example, a system may contain:
- Solar inverter
- Lithium battery or batteries
- Solar panels
- Mounting equipment
- Protection equipment
- Cables and electrical components
- Monitoring equipment
- Other accessories
Each component may be subject to its own manufacturer’s warranty.
The warranty applicable to one component does not automatically extend to other components in the system.
Where possible, Deytech will provide or make available the relevant warranty information for the products supplied.
4. Manufacturer Warranties
Manufacturer warranties are subject to the terms and conditions established by the relevant manufacturer.
Depending on the product, a manufacturer may require:
- Proof of purchase
- Product serial number
- Installation information
- Installation by a suitably qualified person
- Evidence of correct commissioning
- Maintenance records
- Photographs or videos of the installation
- Error codes or system logs
- Other information reasonably required to assess the warranty claim
Failure to comply with the manufacturer’s installation, operating or maintenance requirements may affect warranty coverage.
5. Installation and Workmanship
A product warranty and an installation/workmanship warranty are separate matters.
Where Deytech provides installation services as part of a solar system purchase, the installation service is subject to the agreed installation scope and applicable workmanship obligations.
The manufacturer’s product warranty does not automatically cover installation workmanship, labour, site conditions or unrelated electrical work.
Similarly, an installation/workmanship warranty does not automatically cover failure of a manufacturer’s product.
Where applicable, Deytech will assist the customer in determining whether a reported issue relates to the equipment itself or to the installation.
6. Installation Requirements
Solar equipment must be installed and operated in accordance with:
- The manufacturer’s installation instructions
- Applicable South African laws and regulations
- Applicable electrical requirements and standards
- The equipment’s technical specifications
- Any requirements communicated by Deytech or the manufacturer
Where required, installation should be performed by an appropriately qualified person.
Incorrect installation, unauthorized modifications or operation outside the manufacturer’s specified conditions may invalidate or limit the applicable warranty.
7. What Is Generally Covered
Subject to the applicable manufacturer’s warranty, warranty coverage may include defects in materials or workmanship occurring during the applicable warranty period.
Examples may include:
- Manufacturing defects
- Premature component failure attributable to a manufacturing defect
- Defective equipment covered by the manufacturer’s warranty
- Other failures specifically covered by the applicable manufacturer’s warranty
The exact scope of coverage is determined by the applicable warranty documentation.
8. What May Not Be Covered
Unless specifically covered by the applicable warranty, warranties generally do not cover damage or failure resulting from:
- Incorrect installation
- Incorrect wiring or electrical connections
- Incorrect system configuration
- Unauthorized modifications or repairs
- Physical damage
- Accidental damage
- Negligence or misuse
- Abuse or vandalism
- Failure to follow operating instructions
- Failure to perform required maintenance
- Use outside the manufacturer’s specifications
- Environmental conditions outside the product’s rated operating conditions
- Water, flooding or excessive moisture where the equipment is not rated for such exposure
- Pest or animal damage
- Power surges or electrical events where excluded by the manufacturer
- Lightning or other external events where excluded by the manufacturer
- Fire or other external causes
- Normal wear and tear
- Cosmetic damage that does not affect functionality
- Damage caused by third-party equipment or installations
- Unauthorized relocation of equipment
- Alterations to the installation after commissioning
- Any other exclusions contained in the applicable manufacturer’s warranty
This list is not intended to replace the manufacturer’s specific warranty exclusions.
9. Batteries
Battery warranties may be subject to specific conditions relating to:
- Cycle count
- Depth of discharge
- State of charge
- Operating temperature
- Installation environment
- Compatible inverter equipment
- Charging and discharging conditions
- Battery management settings
- Storage conditions
- Maintenance requirements
A battery’s advertised warranty period does not necessarily mean that the battery will maintain its original capacity for the entire warranty period.
Where a manufacturer provides a performance or capacity warranty, the manufacturer’s specified degradation or minimum-capacity requirements will apply.
10. Solar Panels
Solar panels may be covered by separate product and performance warranties.
These warranties may have different durations and conditions.
A solar panel’s performance warranty may specify a minimum expected output or degradation level over time. This does not mean that the panel will produce the same amount of electricity throughout the entire warranty period.
Actual solar generation is affected by factors including:
- Sunlight availability
- Weather
- Shading
- Panel orientation and inclination
- Temperature
- System design
- Inverter configuration
- Installation conditions
- Other environmental factors
Warranty coverage for solar panels is subject to the applicable manufacturer’s warranty documentation.
11. Inverters
Inverter warranties are subject to the warranty terms applicable to the specific manufacturer and model.
Warranty coverage may depend on proper:
- Installation
- Configuration
- Commissioning
- Electrical protection
- Operating conditions
- Maintenance
- Monitoring and fault handling
Where a manufacturer requires registration of an inverter or system for warranty purposes, the applicable registration requirements must be followed.
12. Warranty Claims
If you believe that a product purchased from Deytech has developed a fault during its applicable warranty period, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.
Please provide:
- Your name and contact details
- Order number or proof of purchase
- Product name and model
- Product serial number, where applicable
- Description of the problem
- Photographs or videos where useful
- Relevant error codes or system information
- Installation or commissioning information, where applicable
Deytech may request additional information to determine the cause of the reported problem.
13. Warranty Assessment
A warranty claim may need to be assessed before a repair, replacement or other remedy is provided.
Depending on the product and manufacturer requirements, the assessment may involve:
- Remote troubleshooting
- Diagnostic information
- Photographs or videos
- Testing by a suitably qualified technician
- Inspection of the equipment
- Inspection of the installation
- Manufacturer assessment
- Return of the product for testing
The fact that a product has stopped working does not automatically establish that the failure is covered by warranty.
14. Repair or Replacement
Where a valid warranty claim is accepted, the applicable remedy will depend on the manufacturer’s warranty and the circumstances of the claim.
A remedy may include:
- Repair of the product
- Replacement of the defective component
- Replacement of the product
- Other remedy provided under the applicable warranty
Replacement equipment may be new, refurbished or equivalent equipment where permitted by the applicable warranty terms.
The warranty period applicable to a repaired or replacement product will be determined by the applicable manufacturer warranty and South African law.
15. Warranty Costs
Warranty claims may involve different costs depending on the product, manufacturer and circumstances of the claim.
Where the applicable warranty covers the relevant cost, Deytech will assist with the warranty process in accordance with the applicable warranty terms.
Costs that may not be covered by a manufacturer warranty can include:
- Labour
- Call-out fees
- Travel
- Site visits
- Removal or reinstallation
- Crane or lifting equipment
- Scaffolding
- Electrical alterations
- Additional materials
- Repairs to unrelated equipment
- Repairs required because of installation defects or external causes
Where additional charges may apply, Deytech will communicate this to the customer before carrying out chargeable work where reasonably practicable.
16. Third-Party Equipment
Where a solar system contains equipment manufactured by different companies, each component may be subject to its own warranty.
A failure of one component does not automatically mean that other components are defective or covered.
Deytech may assist customers in coordinating warranty enquiries with the relevant manufacturer or supplier.
17. Unauthorized Repairs or Modifications
Customers should not open, modify, repair, relocate or alter equipment where doing so is prohibited by the manufacturer or may affect warranty coverage.
Unauthorized repairs, modifications or alterations may invalidate the applicable manufacturer’s warranty.
Where a repair is required, customers should contact Deytech or the relevant authorized service provider first.
18. System Performance
A warranty covers defects or failures within the scope of the applicable warranty. It does not guarantee a particular amount of electricity generation, savings or financial return.
Solar system performance can vary depending on:
- Solar irradiation
- Weather
- Shading
- Seasonal conditions
- Roof orientation
- Panel angle
- System configuration
- Electricity consumption
- Battery usage
- Grid conditions
- Equipment settings
- Maintenance
- Other site-specific conditions
Any estimates provided before installation are estimates and are not themselves a product warranty unless expressly stated otherwise in writing.
19. Warranty Transfer
Whether a warranty can be transferred to another owner depends on the applicable manufacturer’s warranty terms.
Customers should contact Deytech before selling, transferring or relocating equipment if they require information regarding warranty transferability.
20. Warranty Expiry
Warranty claims must generally be submitted within the applicable warranty period.
A warranty does not automatically continue indefinitely because a fault was reported after the original warranty period.
Where a customer has notified Deytech of a problem before warranty expiry, Deytech will assess the claim according to the applicable warranty terms and circumstances.
21. Relationship With Consumer Rights
Nothing in this Warranty Policy is intended to exclude, restrict or waive any rights or remedies that a customer may have under applicable South African law.
Where applicable, statutory consumer rights may apply in addition to any manufacturer’s warranty.
If a provision of this Warranty Policy conflicts with a mandatory requirement of applicable law, the mandatory legal requirement will prevail.
22. Warranty and Returns
A warranty claim is different from a change-of-mind return.
Our Refunds & Returns Policy explains the process for returns, refunds and cancellations.
Where a product is defective, damaged or otherwise covered by applicable consumer protection legislation, the customer’s statutory rights will apply.
